Frequently Asked Questions
The Basics
-
We are centralized around Baltimore but we can accommodate clients all over Maryland, DC, Northern VA, Delaware, and Southern PA.
-
We specialize in Board and Train programs, meaning dogs come and stay with us for the full length of the program.
-
Your dog will be staying in the trainer's actual home! They'll be an honorary part of our family while they're here. No crowded kennel building, outdoor kennels, garages, or out-buildings.
-
We offer individual lessons on a case by case basis but we primarily do Board and Trains.
-
Board and Train programs allow us to maximize the amount of training and progress your dog can make in a short period of time, all while maintaining the consistency necessary to build a solid training foundation. Most people don't have enough time in their busy lives to do what we do and we take all of the heavy lifting out of it!
The Lodging

-
Yes! All dogs are crated at bedtime, mealtimes, as-needed naps, and anytime they can't be supervised during the day. This is for their own safety as well as the safety of any other dogs in the home.
-
Unfortunately visiting can often set back a dog's training/progress so we typically discourage visits. That being said, we always post lots of photo and video updates while dogs are with us!
-
The only things you actually need to send would be food, meds (if applicable), a leash, and a secure collar. However, you are more than welcome to send any additional items that you think will help your dog feel comfortable during their stay.
The Training
-
Yes! At minimum we offer FREE phone consultations to all clients. In person clients are available but not required on our end. Fill out our contact form here to set up a consultation!
-
We are considered balanced trainers! This means we utilize a combination of positive and negative reinforcement to find the best balance of the two for each individual dog. We want dogs to both understand which behaviors are desirable and which are undesirable. We NEVER use any fear or pain based training methods.
-
No, but we do use e-collars, which are often confused for the same thing. E-collars utilize the same technology used in TENS units for physical therapy. When used correctly they are essentially a tap on the shoulder that can be done even at a distance to help communicate with your dog. They are introduced slowly and strategically and are not used as punishment or to instill fear.
-
On the final day of training we will bring your dog home and spend a couple hours with you and your family going over everything they've learned and how to continue their training.
-
Yes! Although we can't guarantee that a dog will never make any mistakes, we will continue to work with you to address any concerns and brush up on their training for the rest of their life. This includes any follow up lessons needed!
The Cost
