Behavioral
Programs
Our specialty! We customize each of our behavior programs to suit the precise needs of each individual dog and family. We often work with dogs that many other trainers aren’t willing to train so don’t be afraid to reach out, even if you are worried we’ll say no.
Key Features
-
Confidence building is an integral part of many of our Behavioral programs! In the vast majority of cases, reactivity and aggression stem from fear even if it may not appear that way. We'll help your dog understand that the world isn't as scary as they may think!
-
Even if your main concern isn't obedience, we always include it in our Behavioral programs! Obedience can increase a dog's confidence, improve your relationship with your dog, aid in behavioral management, and it's even a great way to tire out your dog.
-
Although this part varies quite a bit between each dog and what specific behavioral issues they have, a big part of our programs involves counter-conditioning. The goal of this is to shift your dog's association with their trigger(s) from reactive/aggressive to positive or the very least, neutral. While we can't guarantee your dog will love every dog, human, animal, etc. that they meet, they need to be able to tolerate them!
-
While they're with us we'll get to the bottom of your dog's behavior, fears, motivators, and triggers. This will allow us to come up with a game plan for once they come home that will set you and your dog up for success!
FAQ
-
Our Behavioral programs are designed for any dog, regardless of age, that displays any aggressive or reactive behaviors. This can include (but is not limited to) behaviors such as: leash reactivity, resource guarding, fear aggression, same-sex aggression, dog aggression, human aggression, child aggression, barrier aggression, lunging, snapping, biting, growling, guarding, or any dog with a bite history (excluding play biting).
-
No! It is extremely, extremely rare that we will outright turn away a dog. There are some instances that we'll recommend certain steps be taken prior to the start of training (crate training, muzzle training, etc.) but we will take on even the most severe cases!
-
We require proof of Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccines. We also require proof of a negative fecal result within 30 days of the start of training! Although not required, we do recommend that your dog receives their Canine Influenza, Lepto, and Lyme vaccines as well.
